kIDS 3 - 6 YEARS
30 min - Connect
Classes are light-hearted and include yoga movements through animal impersonations, stories, games & fun. Children explore the functioning of their bodies and minds. They develop co-ordination, balance and core strength.
We guide children in recognising how they are feeling by introducing meditation, mindfulness & breathing techniques that can be used to help learn self-calming/ self-soothing & relaxation and help them expand socially through working and playing in a non-competitive group space.
KIDS 7 - 12 YEARS
45 min - FOCUS & awareness
We focus on building courage and the importance of learning to rise when we fall. Some poses are fast moving while others are slow passed. This allows children to learn self-control, enhancing their focus and awareness.
Children learn how they can take these techniques to other areas of their lives. Through mindful, meditative and reflective practices children know their internal experience and form inner strength.
special needs children
30 MIN - 1 hr age dependent
At Om Yoga we provide integrated yoga classes designed to increase cognitive and motor skills in children with learning and developmental disabilities.
These include specialized breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to improve concentration and reduce hyperactivity.
We offer individual or group classes based on the children needs:- Children who are in motor developmental therapy for gross or fine motor skills,
- High / low muscle tone, sensory integration, Children with ADD or ADHD, Children with Downs Syndrome, Autism or Cerebral Pals,
- Children who suffer from asthma.
FAMILY YOGA
1 hr - Engage & have Fun
Family yoga provides a wonderful place to spend healthy and happy, quality time together. It's a time for family to connect whether its two parents and a grandparent with one child or one parent with four children, everyone is welcomed.
Family yoga delivers the same mental and physical benefits as any other yoga class: peace of mind, relaxation, and increased bodily strength and flexibility in a rare opportunity for both parents and children to observe and learn from each other. A great way to bridge the huge age difference.
TEENS 13 - 18 YEARS
1 hr - Distress & Acceptance
These classes are similar to an adult class and are a great way for teenagers to practice with friends and other students around their own age.
This class is all about reducing stress and gaining strength and flexibility, with fun, flowing sequences to warm up the body, followed by long-held restorative yoga postures. Classes also include breath-work, relaxation techniques and short meditations.
